Buca di Beetle
by Nicole Lowman

a red and white checkered
Volkswagon Beetle
parked on the side of the road
reads Buca di Beppo
across the passenger door
Buca di Beppo
the Italian restaurant
that serves family-style
genuine huge I-talian meals
the kind of meals
mafiosos and the like
dine on during business meetings
or discussions of who needs
to be whacked next
with a handle of Chianti
nestled in a wicker basket
to pass around the table
Buca di Beppo
is downtown
Mamma Mia
what is a Buca di Beppo car
doing on the corner
of Harvard and Repbulican?
maybe they deliver
those homestyle pasta dishes
but no self-respecting I-talian
mafioso or otherwise
would drive around in
a red and white checkered
Volkswagon Beetle
